Call for Applications - Travel Grants

The Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT) encourages networking and exchange of ideas among emerging scholars working within orthopaedics. To meet these ends, this grant opportunity provides travel funds to attend the CSOT Annual Symposium in Toronto, Ontario from November 8 & 9th. Applications are open to members who have registered for the Annual Symposium.
There will be 10 awards available for up to $500.00 to offset costs of travel and accommodation (not registration). Successful applicants will be reimbursed for their expenses up to $500.00 after submitting original receipts and proof of travel to the CSOT Symposium using the following guidelines.
TRANSPORATION:
Air: Awardees will be reimbursed for the lowest economy airfare available only. Air travel claims must include receipt and proof of travel in the form of a boarding pass.
Train, buses and other transportation: Please provide original receipts and boarding passes.
Private vehicle: The mileage rate for travel by private automobile is $0.60 per km. The maximum reimbursement for vehicular travel may not exceed the comparable sum of air travel plus ground transportation costs.
HOTEL:
Original receipts are required. The maximum reimbursement for hotel costs may not exceed the equivalent of the daily conference room rate. Awardees will not be reimbursed for meals or incidental expenses.

ELIGIBLITY:
This competition is open to members of the CSOT.
The applicant must be an active member of the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists and have registered for the conference prior to applying for the grant.
The applicant must not be able to obtain funding elsewhere (ie. hospital / facility).
APPLICATION MUST INCLUDE:
1. A completed Travel Grant Application Form
2. A letter of support from their manager/supervisor which also verifies funding is not available through their employer.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
The Board of Directors of CSOT will evaluate each application based on the criteria stated below:
1. Benefit of attending the conference to the applicant's research and /or clinical career in orthopaedics.
2. Per capita based on regional representation.
3. Membership status.
